Step back in time and discover the rich history of western Sonoma County's Watson School during our open house. Built in 1856, this one-room schoolhouse served as a vital community hub for over a century until its closure in the late 1960s. Normally closed, the school's interior will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and check out the building or stay to make an old-timey holiday craft. The park offers accessible paths of travel, picnic areas and even a portable restroom for the convenience of our visitors. Parking is limited. This is a free program. For more information, contact ParkPrograms@sonoma-county.org. No registration required.
We recommend participants dress in layers, wear comfortable, closed toed hiking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen. Most programs will happen rain or shine, but may be canceled during heavy rains, heavy smoke, or extreme temperatures. Accommodations will be made for visitors with disabilities upon advance request. Parking fees are waived for volunteers.
