Young scientists: Did you know you can make invisible ink at home?

Program Location:

Spring Lake Regional Park

Meeting Place:

Violetti Entrance, Environmental Discovery Center

Bring your junior scientists over to the Environmental Discovery Center to enjoy a kids-only, interactive science hour. We will make beautiful art pieces or secret codes to decipher! Baking soda is used from cleaning to baking to science. With some everyday kitchen items, we'll experiment with invisible drawings and uncover them through scientific exploration of chemical compounds. Adults can head out into Spring Lake Park to enjoy rejuvenating, kid-free time in nature! Sign up for one or more. Activities are ideal for kids ages 6-12. The cost is $10 for Sonoma County residents and $12 for out-of-county attendees. For more information, contact Annika Lawson at communityengagementprograms@sonoma-county.org. Registration required.

Please bring your own water and snacks. We recommend participants dress in layers and bring a hat and sunscreen. Most programs will happen rain or shine, but may be canceled during heavy rains, heavy smoke, or extreme temperatures. Accommodations will be made for visitors with disabilities upon advance request. Parking is $7 or free with a Regional Parks membership.
